Open Knowledge Foundation Nepal

We open up data and digital skills across Nepal, so that communities, not gatekeepers, decide what knowledge can do.

Urban Atlas Nepal brings research on urban risk down to the ward, municipality, and district, starting with Kathmandu Valley. SmartHousing Nepal is its first application, built for the Habitat for Humanity Youth Solutions program.

Today it shows ward-level flood hazard, from a model you can re-weight yourself on the map, and live air quality. Earthquake hazard is paused while we refine it.
